Rockinoak started with a wonderful female named Marshland Ebony StormCloud WC (Storm). Dennis Emken of Marshland Labradors was good enough to sell her to me to start my breeding program. She became my foundation. Most of my dogs of today still go back to her some way, some how. She didn’t like the show ring at all but loved to compete in the field and hunt with me. She was a quiet sweet thing and so easy to train.
Storm created my first Champions, CH Rockinoak Typhoon, and his brother CH Rockinoak Cumulo Nimbus. Nim was sold but Ty went on to be my foundation Stud. He was one of the best dogs with also his mother’s great personality, which he consistently produced in his pups.
I spent two years looking for my chocolate foundation and finally found her. CH Quailwood Indian Legacy WC (Essie)
Essie was a fabulous find. Her breeder Marjorie Blake trusted me with her and I am still very grateful for this great dog to have entered my life. She finished her championship with three majors and was retrieving 150 yd retrieves at the age of seven months. She could have shown herself and when it came to working in the field her intelligence was a pleasure to partner with. She had several children that added wonderful attributes to my breeding program. Her daughters Rockinoak Mayan Princess and daughter AM/Mex CH Rockinoak Be What I Wanto Be went on to produce children and grandchildren that are still in our kennel.
AM/Can CH Oakridge’s Polar Ice was purchased to compliment my breeding program, which he did. Finishing his championship in the U.S. and Canada in four months time was exciting. He was a beautiful and loving animal. He would never eat his dinner until he could give me a kiss to say thank you first. Some of his children and grandchildren still do that. He was always so entertaining. A true loving clown.
As the years have gone by many dogs have been introduced to continue my breeding program but the dogs above have contributed the most and will never be forgotten.
